Who is eligible to apply for BSF?

• The minimum age of the candidates applying for BSF should be 19 years and maximum age should be 25 years.

• The candidates must have a degree from a recognized University or equivalent.

• The candidates also need to have possession of NCC B or C certificate       OR

          Outstanding achievement in sports or athletics will be considered for preferences.

• All candidates must fulfil the physical fitness standard as per the guidelines of UPSC required for BSF recruitments. The physical fitness standards are as follows-

• All candidates must be in good physical and mental condition.

• The minimum height of a male candidate should be 165 cms and for female candidates, the height should be 157 cms.

• The minimum measurement of chest required for BSF recruitment is 81-86 cms. (Female candidates not included).

• The weight limit of male candidates is 50 kg, whereas for female candidates the minimum weight limit is 46 kg.

• The distance vision (corrected) should be 6/6 or 6/9 in the case of male candidates & for female candidates, the distance vision (corrected) should be 6/12 or 6/9.

• All candidates should have a good colour vision.

• Apart from these physical eligibility standards, the candidates should not have knock-knee, flat foot, and squinty eye issues, etc.

Selection procedure of BSF candidates

The selection procedure of BSF consists of 3 stages. The candidates have to qualify these stages to become an Assistant Commandant in BSF.

• Written Examination

The written examination is the first stage for BSF selection. UPSC conducts a written examination consisting of two papers- Paper I and Paper II. The qualified candidates of written examination will be called for the physical fitness test.

• Physical Fitness Test

The next stage is the physical fitness test followed by a written examination. At this stage, the candidates will be tested on the parameters set by UPSC as mentioned above. The candidates who successfully qualify the physical standard will be called for the personal interview stage.

• Personal Interview

This is the final stage for BSF selections. Candidates who perform well in the personal interview recruited for BSF.
