Exam Pattern
The Rashtriya Military School entrance examination is conducted to assess a student’s academic ability, reasoning skills, and overall suitability for a disciplined military school environment. The exam pattern is clearly defined and varies slightly for Class 6 and Class 9.
The written examination is the first stage of selection.
It consists of objective-type questions based on English, Mathematics, and General Knowledge. The questions are designed to test understanding, accuracy, and basic problem-solving skills.
For Class 6, the written exam includes:
English, Mathematics, and General Knowledge.
The paper is set at the Class 4 and Class 5 level.
For Class 9, the written exam includes:
English, Mathematics, and General Knowledge.
The paper is set at the Class 7 and Class 8 level.
The written exam is conducted for a fixed duration, and students must manage time carefully. Each subject carries specific marks, with Mathematics generally having higher weightage.
Students who clear the written examination are called for the interview stage. The interview assesses personality, confidence, communication skills, and suitability for a military school environment.
Candidates who qualify the interview undergo a medical examination conducted by a military hospital. Medical fitness as per prescribed standards is mandatory for final selection.
The final merit list is prepared based on performance in the written exam, interview, and medical fitness.
Selection Procedure
- The first stage is the written entrance examination.
Candidates appear for an objective-type written test in English, Mathematics, and General Knowledge. This stage tests academic understanding, basic reasoning, and general awareness. - Students who qualify the written examination are shortlisted for the interview stage.
The interview assesses the student’s confidence, communication skills, clarity of thought, and overall personality. It also helps evaluate the student’s adaptability to military school life. - Candidates who clear the interview are then called for a medical examination.
The medical test is conducted at a designated military hospital to ensure the student meets the required physical and medical standards prescribed by the authorities. - Only candidates who are declared medically fit are considered for final selection.
The final merit list is prepared based on performance in the written examination, interview, and medical fitness, subject to availability of seats.
