After the retirement of the IAF Chief Air Marshal R.K.S Bhadauria, on Sept 30, Air Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari, PVSM, AVSM, VM will be the new Chief of Air Staff. Air Marshal VR Chaudhari currently serves as the 45th Vice Chief of the Air Staff. He will be the 27th Chief of the Air Staff.
On 29 December, 1982, Air Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari was commissioned in the fighter stream of the IAF. He is an alumnus of NDA and Defence Services Staff College. He has 3800 hrs flying experience of fighter jets and trainer aircraft. In July 2021, Air Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari took the charge of Vice Chief of IAF. His service period is 39 years. Air Marshal VR Chaudhari has flying experience of Su-30MKI, MiG-21, MiG-29 and MiG-23MF.

Air Marshal VR Chaudhari has commanded a Mig-29 Squadron, and later commanded Air Force Station Pune. From October 2019 to July 2020, he served as Senior Air Staff Officer at Eastern Air Command. He has served as an trainer at dssc wellington as well as dscsc at lusaka, zambia. He has served as the chief operations officer at Air Force Station Srinagar. He also served as Deputy Commandant at Dundigal Air Force Academy, and Assistant Chief of Air Staff Operations.
