(1) Service Entry Commission : Airmen within the age limit of 32 to 42 years, who have the rank of Sergeant or above with minimum service of 10 years, can become a Commissioned Officer in the Indian Air Force. Minimum educational qualification to become a Permanent Commissioned Officer through this entry (in ground duty branches) is 10+2. Airmen with higher education qualifications and sports achievements are given weightage. Eligible airmen have to pass an internal written exam and SSB interview.
(2) AFCAT Exam : Airmen get a chance to get 2 years leave without pay for further study. So he can complete his graduation and apply for the AFCAT Entry and become an officer in the Airforce.

- Flying Branch : 20-24 Years
- Ground Duty Technical / Non-Technical : 20-26 Years
Selection Process AFCAT :
- Written Examination
- EKT examination (For Ground Duty Technical)

(3) CDS Exam : UPSC conducts CDS exam twice a year. Any airmen only after graduation can apply for the CDS Exam and opt Airforce for the service.

For OTA : 19-27 Years.
