Course Overview
Clearing the written exam earns a call to the Services Selection Board, but the recommendation is decided over five days of tests that look for officer-like qualities rather than book knowledge. Candidates are assessed on how they think, speak and act, and nervousness or unfamiliar tasks can undo months of preparation.
The OGC–Dehradun Defence Academy SSB Coaching prepares candidates for every stage of this process in one focused programme, for all entries including NDA, CDS, OTA, AFCAT, TES, TGC and NCC Special Entry.

The programme starts with orientation, the SSB procedure and the officer-like qualities the board looks for, along with core life skills such as communication, public speaking, time management and dressing. Screening preparation covers verbal and non-verbal OIR reasoning and the Picture Perception & Description Test, including story-writing, narration and group discussion.
SSB Psychology sessions give lectures and timed practice in the Thematic Apperception Test (stories on 12 pictures), Word Association Test (60 words), Situation Reaction Test (60 situations in 30 minutes) and Self-Description, with feedback on what each response reveals.
GTO training is led by Colonel Anupam (Retd.), a DIPR-trained GTO who has assessed more than 2,200 candidates. Candidates practise group discussion, the Group Planning Exercise and lecturette, then every outdoor task: Progressive Group Task, Half Group Task, Group Obstacle Race, Individual Obstacles, Command Task and Final Group Task, on a ground designed under ex-SSB GTOs.
Interview preparation is led by Colonel S. Pande (Retd.), who conducted about 2,100 interviews as an SSB Interviewing Officer. Candidates take repeated mock interviews followed by one-to-one feedback, and finish with sessions on the conference procedure and the do's and don'ts of the SSB.
Each session runs for 1.5 hours, with feedback given in class and in one-to-one sessions. Physical and endurance training under ACE-certified trainers prepares candidates for the demanding outdoor tasks.

The course covers every stage of the SSB: OIR and PPDT screening, psychology tests, GTO tasks, personal interview and conference, along with OLQ development, communication skills, physical training and one-to-one feedback.
Who can join the course?
Students who are in Class 12 or have passed it, and who meet the NDA age criteria, can join. Both boys and girls are welcome. Science (PCM) students can apply for all wings; students from other streams can apply for the Army wing.
Who trains the candidates?
The panel includes Colonel Anupam (Retd.), a trained GTO who has assessed 2,200+ candidates; Colonel S. Pande (Retd.), an SSB Interviewing Officer with about 2,100 interviews; Colonel I.P.S. Rana (Retd.) for psychology; and Shashi Shekhar, ex-Assistant Commandant and two-time SSB qualifier.
Should I choose the 14-day or 30-day course?
The 14-day course suits candidates with an SSB date coming up soon. The 30-day course gives more time for repeated practice and feedback, which helps first-time candidates and repeaters.
Do you prepare candidates for the AFSB?
Yes. AFCAT and Air Force candidates follow the same stages of screening, psychology, group tasks and interview, and we have recent AFSB recommendations from Mysore, Dehradun, Varanasi and Gandhinagar.
I have been screened out or conferenced out before. Will this help?
Yes. One-to-one feedback identifies where you fell short, and training focuses on those areas.
How many mock interviews are included?
The full programme includes seven mock interviews with an ex-SSB Interviewing Officer, followed by one-to-one feedback.
Does the academy have a dedicated GTO ground?
Yes. Our SSB ground was designed under the guidance of ex-SSB GTOs for practice of every outdoor task.

What is the admission process?
Register online, pay the registration fee, choose a 14 or 30-day batch and submit the full fee to confirm admission.
