Air Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari has been appointed as the new Vice Chief of Air Staff in the Air headquarters. He will join the office as the 45th Vice Chief of Indian Air Force on August 1, 2021. Air Marshal Ballabha Radha Krishna would be succeeding Chaudhari at the Western Command while Air Marshal R.J Duckworth would be taking charge of the Central Air Command in Prayagraj. Air Marshal Chaudhari is taking over as the IAF has been carrying out nighttime combat air patrols over the eastern Ladakh region. An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Air Marshal Chaudhari was commissioned into the fighter stream on 29 December, 1982.

Air Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari has flown a wide variety of fighter and trainer aircraft. He has a flying encounter of over 3,800 hours, including operational flying on MiG-21, MiG-23 MF, MiG 29 and Su-30 MKI fighter jets. Air Marshal Chaudhari was the commanding officer of a frontline fighter squadron and has also commanded a frontline fighter base.
