Eligibility for NDA Exam

Age Limit– The minimum age to apply for NDA exam is 16 years and the maximum age is 19 years as on January 1st OR July 1st of the examination year.

Marital Status– The candidates interested to apply for NDA exam should be unmarried.

Educational Qualification– To apply for Indian Army, the candidates must have completed Higher Secondary education OR equivalent from a recognized Board.

To apply for Indian Navy and Indian Air Force, the candidates should have passed Higher Secondary education from a recognized Board having Physics and Mathematics as subjects. The candidates who are appearing for Higher Secondary exam are also eligible to apply for NDA exam.

Examination pattern for NDA Exam

The NDA exam will be conducted through offline mode.
There will be 2 papers in NDA exam- Mathematics and General Ability.
The total marks for Mathematics paper will 300 marks, whereas General Ability consists of total 600 marks. The total marks for NDA exam will be of 900.
The duration of the examination will be 2 hours and 30 minutes.
The question paper will have MCQ OR objective type questions.
There will be a penalty of 1/3rd marks for each incorrect answer.
The qualified candidates of written exam will be allowed to attend SSB Interview round.
The total marks allotted for SSB Interview is 900 marks.
The question paper will be available both in English and Hindi except English section.

Syllabus for NDA Exam

The examination syllabus of NDA is divided into 2 parts- Mathematics and General Abilities. Syllabus of Mathematics

The syllabus of mathematics includes- Statistics, Trigonometry, Determinants of matrix, Differential Calculus, Integral Caculus and Differential Equations, Analytical Geometry of 2 & 3 dimensions, Types of matrices, probability, Matrices & Determinants, Vector Algebra, Algebra etc.

Syllabus of General Ability

The general ability is again divided into 2 parts- Part A & Part B. Part A comprises of topics such as English, grammar, Vocabulary, Comprehension etc.
Part B covers these topics- General Knowledge, Physics, History, geography, Chemistry, general Science, Current Affairs etc.

Marking Scheme in NDA Exam

Dehradun Defence Academy is a top NDA coaching institute in Dehradun. Each question will carry 2.5 marks. There will be a penalty of 0.83 marks for each incorrect answer.

The General Ability section will have total 150 questions of 600 marks. Out of total 150 questions, 50 questions will be asked from English and the rest 100 questions will be from General Knowledge, Physics, History, geography, Chemistry, General Science, Current Affairs etc. Out of total 600 marks allotted for general Ability Test, 200 marks will be assigned to English and 400 marks for General Knowledge, Physics, History, geography, Chemistry, general Science, Current Affairs etc. Each question of General Ability Test will carry 4 marks and there will be a penalty of 1.33 marks for each incorrect answer.

Cut off marks in NDA Exam

Cut off marks is the minimum marks required to pass the examination. The candidates applying for NDA exam have to score the cut off marks in order to get eligible for SSB Interview. The cut off marks may vary from year to year depending on various factors such as difficulty level of the written exam, number of seats available, number of candidates applied for the written examination etc.
