“Transformation doesn’t announce itself. It happens when you’re too focused to notice.”
When Baibhav walked into OGC Dehradun Defence Academy during his summer vacations in 2025, there was no dramatic proclamation, no talk of miracles. Just a quiet goal shared between five close friends from Sainik School, Mainpuri, to crack the NDA written examination in just sixty days.

That’s not a lot of time. No time for excuses. No margin for distractions.
From day one, this group moved differently. They arrived early, showed up consistently, submitted every assignment on time, and followed every instruction to the letter. Their effort wasn’t flashy. It was focused. Theirs wasn’t discipline for discipline’s sake. It was hunger, intent, and trust in their mentors, in the process, and most importantly, in themselves.
As the days passed, their study sessions grew sharper, quieter, and more deliberate. The classroom began to shift from a space of instruction to a zone of purpose. And when the course came to an end, their feedback was heartfelt. They had gained more than they expected, and they were returning to school with more than they came with.
Then came the exam. And shortly after, the result.
Four out of the five cleared the NDA written exam.

But the journey didn’t stop there. They came back for SSB training at our SSB academy, SSBOG, just as committed, just as humble. What followed wasn’t just more training. It was transformation.
“We couldn’t have cleared Maths without Vivek Sir,” they said.
“Out of fifty Science questions, forty-eight came straight from the academy notes.”
It wasn’t just what they learned. It was how. Concise notes, a structured approach, daily mentorship, and practical revision plans removed the chaos and instilled clarity.

Baibhav’s Inner Shift
Among the group, Baibhav quietly began to shift gears. He had always been dependable, someone who did what was expected. But during his SSB preparation, something inside him began to change.
He saw areas where he needed to grow: confidence, expression, discipline, and behavioral sharpness. He didn’t deny those gaps. He acknowledged them. And that honesty, rare and courageous, became the start of his rise.
He stayed back after sessions. He asked questions others avoided. He practiced daily. Slowly, small changes compounded. He became proactive, reflective, and balanced.
By the time he faced GTO tasks and psychological assessments, Baibhav was no longer reacting to pressure. He was responding with presence of mind. He wasn’t trying to outshine others. His only competition was the version of himself from yesterday.
And then, from the halls of 11 SSB Allahabad, the news came in:
Baibhav had been recommended.
Not because he was the most brilliant from day one, but because he was the most dedicated to growth.

A Word from Baibhav
Reflecting on his journey, Baibhav shared:
“The academy’s structured, realistic, and officer-oriented training brought a profound transformation in my personality, confidence, clarity of thought, and behavioural conduct, qualities fundamental to an aspiring officer. I am deeply thankful to Shashi Shekhar Sir, Colonel Anupam Sudan Sir, Colonel I.P.S. Rana Sir, and Colonel S. Pandey Sir for refining my communication skills, leadership attitude, emotional stability, and overall SSB performance. I also sincerely appreciate the DDA mentors, the administration, and Saurabh Sir for creating such a professional, motivating, and growth-oriented environment.”

Final Salute
Sixty days.
That’s all it took for Baibhav to rewrite his story, from hopeful aspirant to confident candidate, from a schoolboy to a recommended future officer.
This wasn’t just exam preparation. It was life preparation.
And for us at Dehradun Defence Academy, Baibhav’s journey is a reminder that real growth happens quietly, in the background, away from the spotlight, when no one is watching.
We are proud of you, Baibhav. May you continue to lead with integrity, clarity, and courage.
