“This Kid is Going to Make It”
“When I interviewed him over the phone for his admission, I knew right away—this kid would become a favorite. I also had a strong feeling that he would make it.” These are the words of Saurabh Sir, the Director of Dehradun Defence Academy, who saw potential in Adarsh from the very beginning. A young man from Thane, Mumbai, Adarsh joined Dehradun Defence Academy after his 10th grade. Right from the start, he stood out for his respectfulness, punctuality, and eagerness to learn.
Starting with Challenges in Physical Fitness and Math
Adarsh faced some tough hurdles early on, especially in physical training and math, but he didn’t let these challenges hold him back. Physical training was especially demanding, yet with Ravi Sir’s constant support and encouragement, Adarsh pushed himself. Little by little, he improved his strength and stamina, putting in the hard work every day to get better.
Turning Math Worries into Motivation, Finding a Strength in English
Math was another area where Adarsh struggled, often voicing concerns about his problem-solving speed compared to his batchmates. However, with daily practice and support from his mentors, he steadily made progress. English, on the other hand, was where he shone, largely thanks to Saurabh Sir’s guidance. Adarsh often credited him for making English a “piece of cake,” and his confidence in the subject became a source of motivation as he worked to improve in other areas.
Facing Setbacks Head-On and Staying Determined
In his first attempt at the NDA, Adarsh achieved an impressive 188 out of 200 in English, a testament to his dedication. However, he didn’t pass the written exam and naturally felt disappointed. Yet, rather than letting this setback stop him, he chose to give it another try. Driven by his goals and encouraged by his mentors, Adarsh resolved to keep pushing forward until he succeeded.
Achieving His Dream After Three Attempts
After three attempts, Adarsh’s hard work and determination finally paid off. He earned his recommendation from the 3 AFSB (Air Force Selection Board), bringing him closer to his dream of becoming a Flying Officer. His journey with Dehradun Defence Academy is a reminder that, with enough effort, focus, and the right support, any obstacle can be overcome.
