5 Common Lies Candidates Say In The SSB Interview

SSB Interview Preparation

When preparing for an interview, it is important to be honest about your qualifications and experience. However, sometimes candidates feel the need to exaggerate the truth in order to make themselves look better.

While it is understandable to want to put your best foot forward, there are certain lies that you should avoid telling in an interview. These lies can easily be detected by experienced Interviewing officers (IOs) and can ruin your chances of getting selected.

Lies Candidates Say in the SSB Interview

In this article, we will discuss 5 common lies that candidates often tell in SSB interviews. We will also provide tips on how you can avoid telling these lies.

1. Hobbies

One of the most caught lies in the SSB interview is fake hobbies. Candidates have a tendency to write about various sports activities like playing cricket, or football, listening to music, and watching the news but in reality, it is not their hobby. They get caught when interviewing officers start asking deep questions about these hobbies.

So, don’t write anything in the hobby section unless it is your real hobby. It is ok not to have a hobby. Don’t at all write anything Just for the sake of filling up the PIQ(personal Interview Questionnaire). Keep it blank if you don’t have any hobbies.

2. Backlogs in Educational Qualifications

The next lie most candidates say is the gap or backlog in their education. Most candidates are caught while making up for the backlog. Some try to cover it with excuses like medical conditions, family problems, etc. The candidates ignore one thing is that the interviewer(s) are experienced persons and experts in catching lies. They will cross-question and put you in an awkward situation where you have to tell more lies or confess. So it is always better, to tell the truth.

There can be backlogs or gaps in some candidates’ education but it does not mean you should lie to the interviewer. Tell the truth and try to justify the backlog or gap with a genuine reason. A hard truth is much better than hundred rosy lies.

3. Motivation to Join the Military

A very popular question asked in most SSB interviews is what is your motivation to join the military or why do you want to join the military? Different candidates say different things some tell the truth and some try to lie. There is no right or wrong answer to this.

Joining the Indian military is a life-changing decision. It is an opportunity to serve your country and protect its citizens. It is also a chance to receive training and education that will benefit you for the rest of your life.

In addition to the personal benefits of joining the military, you will also have the opportunity to make a difference in the world.

Always remember what is the one main reason you started preparing for the SSB interviews, it can be pride, honor, serving the Nation, job security, etc. Whatever the reason just tell the truth and that is the best impression you can create.

4. Do not Have any Weaknesses

“Can you please state your strengths and weaknesses?” It is one of the trickiest questions asked by interviewers in the SSB interview to judge your psychological abilities. Thai explains how much you know about yourself.

Candidates often say they are good at this and that and say they don’t have any weaknesses. But in reality, candidates do this to impress the interviewers. Everybody has some kind of weaknesses and it’s okay to have them. The best part is that you can turn your weaknesses into your strengths so here is a hidden opportunity lying there.

Always ascertain yourself before the interview and ask yourself what are your strengths and weaknesses. Things you dislike or like are not your strengths or weaknesses.

5. Daily Routines

Another mistake candidates often make is to impress the interviewer by stating their physical exercises like running for 2 hours or 5 km each day. Interviewing officers keep a track of every answer and candidates get caught in follow-up questions. Interviewers ask you to state your daily routine and then you miss adding your daily running habit which you told me at the beginning.

So keep one thing in mind the person(s) sitting in front of you is not a joker, they are experts in the field and can catch you lying from your body movements.

So if you don’t run they don’t say you do running every day. If you want to make an impression then start running 2 km every day.

Conclusion

Candidates who lie in their SSB interviews are likely to be caught and eliminated from the selection process. Some common lies that candidates tell include lying about their qualifications, lying about their motivation for joining the military, and lying about their goals.

To catch these lies, the interviewers use a variety of techniques, such as asking follow-up questions, observing body language, and checking references. To learn more about the SSB interview process and tips keep visiting this space.
