Normal SSB Interview Process : It is divided in two stages.
Stage 1 of SSB :
- involves Officer Intelligence Rating and Picture Perception & Description Test. A blurred image is shown to the candidates for 30 seconds and they have to write a story in 4 minutes.
Stage 2 of SSB involves :
- Psychology Test : It consists of Thematic Apperception Test, Word Association Test, Situation Reaction Test, Self Description Test.
- GTO : It consists of Group Discussion, Group Planning Exercise, Progressive group task, Group Obstacle, Lecturette, Half Group Task, Individual Obstacles, Command task, Final Group Task.
- Personal Interview.
- Conference

SSB Interview Process Indian Coast Guard : This is also a two stage. Stage 1 is the Preliminary Selection Board and Stage 2 is the Final Selection Board.
Preliminary Selection Board : It is conducted for 2 days. The verbal and non-verbal reasoning written test will be conducted on the first day and the second day is the Picture Perception & Description Test. Total 80 questions were shown on the screen on the first day.
The PPDT test is the same as the Normal SSB. A blurred image is shown to the candidates for 30 seconds and they have to write a story in 4 minutes.
PPDT is followed by Group Discussion. Group concludes the story based on the image shown to them.

Final Selection Board : After PSB candidates will be called for FSB. In FSB candidates have to appear for the:
- Psychology test, First day
- GTO, Second day
- Interview, Third day
- Conference, Fourth day
The selected candidates of FSB are called for the medical checkup and then the final merit list will be declared.
