The Union Public Service Commission has released the official notification for the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination-II, 2026.
The NDA Exam is one of India’s most prestigious defence entrance exams conducted twice a year by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission).
The NDA 2 2026 exam will be conducted on 13 September 2026 for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the National Defence Academy and the Indian Naval Academy Course.
The online application process started on 20 May 2026, and candidates can apply till 9 June 2026 up to 6:00 PM.

NDA 2 2026 Vacancies
UPSC has announced approximately 394 vacancies for NDA and Naval Academy.
National Defence Academy: 370 vacancies
Naval Academy: 24 vacancies
Out of the total vacancies, 370 are for male candidates and 24 are for female candidates.
NDA 2 2026 Eligibility
Only unmarried male and female candidates can apply for NDA 2 2026.
Candidates must be born not earlier than 1 January 2008 and not later than 1 January 2011.
For the Army Wing of NDA, candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination.
For the Air Force and Naval Wings of NDA, and the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme of the Indian Naval Academy, candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Candidates appearing in Class 12 can also apply.
Class 11 students are not eligible for this examination.
NDA 2 2026 Application Fee
The application fee is Rs. 100.
SC candidates, ST candidates, female candidates and eligible wards of JCOs, NCOs and ORs are exempted from paying the fee.
NDA 2 2026 Exam Pattern
The written examination will have 2 papers.
Mathematics: 300 marks
General Ability Test: 600 marks
Total Written Exam: 900 marks
SSB Interview: 900 marks
Both papers will be objective type. Negative marking will apply for wrong answers.

Candidates should prepare all sections thoroughly, as questions are asked from across the entire syllabus and there is negative marking for incorrect answers.
NDA 2 2026 Selection Process
The NDA 2 2026 selection process will be conducted in 2 stages – the written examination and the SSB Interview.
Candidates who qualify the written examination will be called for the Services Selection Board Interview.
The SSB process is also divided into 2 stages.
Stage 1 includes the Officer Intelligence Rating Test and the Picture Perception and Description Test. Candidates who clear Stage 1 are allowed to appear for Stage 2.
Stage 2 includes the Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and Conference. These tests assess the candidate’s officer-like qualities, personality, leadership potential and suitability for training.
Candidates who choose the Air Force Flying Branch will also have to qualify the Computerised Pilot Selection System.

Applicants must complete account creation, Universal Registration Number, Common Application Form and the examination-specific module.
Candidates should keep a valid photo ID ready while applying. UPSC has advised candidates to use Aadhaar for easy verification.
