Indian Air Force invites application from unmarried male candidates for selection of Trades Wise Duty of Airmen Group ‘Y’. The educational qualification required for this examination is a 10+2 exam passed. On the basis of the performance in the JBPT, specific trades are allotted to the successful candidates. Basic combatant training is the same for all. After successful completion of basic training trade training will start.

Communication Technician : Communication Technician operate, maintain and service all types of communication devices, telephone exchange and radio equipment
Automobile Technician : Automobile Technician drives all types of light, medium and heavy automobiles, specialist vehicles like cranes, towing tractors, forklifts etc. Automobile technicians also carry out minor repairs, day to day maintenance and basic level servicing of the vehicles and specialist vehicles.
Admin Assistant : Admin Assistant maintains records of air force personnel. They also manage ration supplies, cookhouses and messes.

Account Assistant : Accounts Assistant keep records and manage the accounts of pay and allowances, equipment, logistics transactions, public fund, etc.
Logistics Assistant : Logistics Assistant involved in the procurement, handling and storage of inventory control as well as accounting of military stores.
Environment Support Services Assistant : This involves maintenance of the firefighting section of the air force.
Ops Assistant : As an Ops Assistant operates different systems of the Air Defence System, Air Traffic Control Centre and Air Field. Ops assistants get trained in the operation of Display Units, Radars, reporting and tracking procedures of airborne weapon systems etc.

Indian Air Force Security : Indian Air Force Security tradesmen undertake special operations and carry out high level security operations.
