Indian Air Force in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has taken a leap forward in fuel supply chain management by introducing a ‘Fleet Card – Fuel on Move’ for its varied fleet of vehicles.
This innovative initiative taken by the Indian Air Force provides a paradigm shift to the logistics management of fuel.
‘Fleet Card’, the energy security for IAF vehicles on move, was launched by the Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Chief of Air Staff at Headquarters Western Air Command, Subroto Park on 28 March in the presence of Air Marshal S Prabhakaran, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Air Command and Mr. SM Vaidya Chairman IOCL.
HQ Western Air Command was earmarked as lead agency in the implementation and execution of this innovative concept of “Fuel on Move”. Availability of Fleet Card will permit the convoy to refuel at any IOCL fuel stations thus increasing the pace of movement and reducing the lead time for readiness at operational locations across the nation.
IAF To Procure Indigenous Advanced Electronic Warfare Suite For Its fighter aircraft from BEL, to also buy Instrumented Electronic Warfare Range from the Defence PSU.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) will procure Advanced Electronic Warfare Suite (AEWS) for its fighter aircraft from . The IAF will also get Instrumented Electronic Warfare Range from the Hyderabad unit of BEL.
The Ministry of Defence and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) on 29 March concluded a contract for supply of Advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) suite for Fighter aircraft of Indian Air Force. The overall cost of the contract is estimated to be Rs 1,993 crore.
The supply of advanced EW systems will significantly enhance the battle-survivability of IAF fighter aircraft while undertaking operational missions against adversaries’ ground-based as well as airborne fire control and surveillance radars.
The EW suite has been indigenously designed and developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
The Defence Ministry and the BEL, Hyderabad on 29 March also signed a contract for Instrumented Electronic Warfare Range (IEWR) for the Indian Air Force. The contract is a significant step towards enhancing the capabilities of IAF to prepare for future warfare.
The overall cost of the contract is estimated to be Rs 1,109 crore.
The IEWR will be used to test and evaluate airborne Electronic Warfare (EW) equipment and validate their deployment in an Operational Scenario.
