Chidurala Sumith, came to Dehradun Defence Academy for CDS preparation in 2022. It was very clear from the very start that he is going to clear the exam. The obvious reason of the trust of faculties in this student was his absolute dedication and regularity.
Not only did he clear the CDS exam but also he cleared AFCAT and AC (CAPF). His journey here at DDA is one full of memories. We remember his innings in the finals of cricket tournament that resulted in the ultimate win of DDA 11. The entire academy bursted with cheers when he hit that final shot towards the championship.
We wonders what makes him a special student? Or for that matters a lot us wonder what makes someone a special student. Let’s go into the journey of Sumith together and try to find out.
He is a student from the southern India and was not very familiar with the Hindi language which is the mode of communications in the classrooms majorly. Despite this language barrier he never complained, he was always happy and calm. So, can we conclude that being optimistic made him a good student. Definitely, but is this the only thing that we need to be a good student, certainly not.
So let’s dig deeper, he was very regular and never missed any class, is this a marker of a successful career. Again yes it is, but we have to take into consideration that being only regular is not sufficient, being attentive in the lecture halls is more important. And Sumith was both regular and attentive.
What were the other qualities? One might ask,so here are some :
• He was humble and only those are really humble, learn.
• He was hard working and its pretty obvious that one can not achieve anything in absence of hard work.
• He had faith in his teachers. Learning is never complete without faith.
It was fun teaching him and it was pleasure to see him grow everyday. We contributed whatever we could but it was mainly he himself. We wish him all the best and hope to get more students like him to teach. It is students like him which makes teaching worth while.
